The weirdest desert would have to be cold deserts. Hmmm? I think the name gives it away. In a regular desert water seeps into the ground, when it does rain. All deserts are sandy no matter what! The most common thing you will see in a desert is dunes. Great big sand dunes. Great for offroading when it is designated. 3 types of deserts are Kalahari, Sahara, and namib. The Barrel cactus is one that most people will recognize. It is a disk shape and VERY prickly! It is 3-4 inches long and beautiful yellow-green or red blossoms grow on top. The animals in the Cold Desert are burrowers, even the carnivores and reptiles. All the amphibians

are rough skinned and the mammals are scavengers.

There are reptiles, birds of prey, and insects. There are a tremendous amount of animals in the desert. One of the most common people here about is the scorpion.

When you sleep outside in the middle of nowhere. When you wake up make sure to

shake your shoes. Bacteria shows up everywhere in our lives. In the desert

bacteria is called 'desert varnish.' It is adapted to the hot/cold

climate of the desert. Desert Varnish is also adapted to little or no water or shade.

The Climate of the desert is usualy hot!
For the desert subtropical means hot and temperate maens cold!
There are actualy cold deserts!
I know I can't belive it!!
The precipitation is low and the percipitation a year can get up to 100 cm.
but that is very low because it is a desert!!

There are many different kinds of plants in the desert but here is a list of a few:
-prickly pear
-saguaro cactus
-trichomes
-fishhook cactus
-cercidium microphyllum
The desert can only hold plants that can with stand the heat!
In the cold deserts the plants that live there must with stand the cold!
The plants MUST be abble to adapt to the very dry conditiions! Also reduction of leaves is very commen!

Threats:

  • global warming is shrinking watering holes
  • grazing animals will destroy plants
  • oils and gases can disrupt sensitive habitats
  • Potassium cyanide can poison animals (used while mining)
  • Nuclear wastes can be dumped in deserts
Solutions:
  • Use more water recourses
  • Find new ways to rotate a crop
  • Off road vehicles only on trails and roadways that are designated
  • Planting sand and bushes that don’t need water (or barely any if so)
